In our drive to improve Numeracy skills and levels at Blairgowrie HS we piloted using Sumdog Maths. This was very well received and the school has now invested in buying the extended package for use with S1-3.
The Maths is revised and reinforced through a variety of games, challenges and contests which adapt in response to each answer given.
All S1 and S2 learners should be completing at least 30 minutes of Sumdog every week (not including in class) as a set piece of homework. S3 learners should complete the same.
If any have problems with internet access at home, there are computers available for use in the library every school day from 8.30 a.m. until 4.45 p.m. including at intervals and lunch-times.
Parents and carers can also access Sumdog, e.g. playing against their children. The program is designed so that different Maths and Numeracy skills are taken into account so that each game or contest is fair whether between classmates, siblings, parents, etc.!
